Glenn Maxwell recently became the first non-opener to score an ODI double hundred. Playing for Australia in a match against Afghanistan at the Wankhede Stadium, Maxwell scored an unbeaten 201-run knock to help Australia chase a 292-run target and win by three wickets.
The Aussies were down to 91/7 at one stage. It looked like Australia would lose to Afghanistan for the first time ever, but Maxwell had other plans. Despite being injured, he continued to play and guided his team home. Glenn Maxwell became the first middle-order batter to score a 200 in ODIs. Here are five other batters who can do the same soon.
1. Heinrich Klaasen can score 200 like Glenn Maxwell
Heinrich Klaasen has been the most destructive middle-order batter in the modern era. He knows how to tackle pace and spin well. Klaasen can join Maxwell in this elite club soon.
2. Suryakumar Yadav can score 200 like Glenn Maxwell
Suryakumar Yadav has not achieved much success in ODIs yet, but he has shown his talent in T20Is. If Yadav gets going, he has the potential to score a double century in ODIs.
3. Rishabh Pant
Another Indian batter to feature on the list is Rishabh Pant. The southpaw is gearing up to make a return to international cricket in the near future. He has got what it takes to score an ODI 200.
4. Jos Buttler
England captain Jos Buttler is in horrendous form right now, but he should bounce back soon. Buttler is another middle-order batter, who has the potential to score an ODI 200 one day.
5. Nicholas Pooran
West Indies will return to ODI cricket after the 2023 World Cup. Nicholas Pooran has been in destructive touch in recent months, and if his top form continues, Pooran can score a double hundred in ODIs.
