T20 World Cup 2024 will take place in West Indies and USA next year. It will be the biggest T20 WC tournament ever, with 20 teams scheduled to take part in the competition. This time, ICC has removed the Round 1 system, wherein eight teams had to play against each other for a place in the Super 12.
In the next T20 World Cup, all teams will start in the group stage, with 4 groups of 5 teams each. The top 2 teams from each group will advance to the Super 8s, followed by the semifinals and then the final. It should be an exciting tournament, and here are five teams who will play with the big nations for the first time.
1. USA will make their debut in T20 World Cup 2024
USA will make its debut at the grand stage next year. The American cricket team did not have to play any qualifying tournament because they are the co-hosts of the mega event.
2. Canada will make their debut in T20 World Cup 2024
ICC organized a qualifying tournament in Americas from September 30 to October 7 earlier this year. The Canadian team performed brilliantly and emerged as the team to qualify from their region.
3. Nepal
Nepal has played in the qualifying round of T20 World Cup 2014, but it has never played in the main round. This time, Nepal has qualified for the mega event’s main round.
4. Papua New Guinea
Papua New Guinea played in the qualifying round of the T20 World Cup in 2021. However, they could not progress to the main round. In 2024, they will play in the main round directly.
5. Oman
Oman has also played in the qualifying round of the T20 World Cup in 2021. However, Oman’s team only defeated PNG. They could not make it to the main round in 2021 but will do it in 2024.
