Chennai Super Kings played their last game of IPL 2022 against the Rajasthan Royals yesterday night at the Brabourne Stadium. The Chennai-based franchise could win only four matches his season. For the first time in their IPL history, they did not qualify for the playoffs in a season that was hosted by India.
CSK are already looking forward to IPL 2023, with captain MS Dhoni confirming that he has no intentions to retire from the IPL at the moment. The Super Kings may make some changes to their team ahead of the next season. The following five names might be released by CSK:
1. Chennai Super Kings may release Narayan Jagadeesan
Despite being with the franchise for multiple seasons, Narayan Jagadeesan is yet to make an impact. He played two matches this season, scoring 40 runs at a strike rate of 108.10. It seems unlikely that CSK may give another chance to Jagadeesan.
2. Chennai Super Kings are likely to release Chris Jordan
England’s pace-bowling all-rounder Chris Jordan played his first season for the Chennai Super Kings this year. He played four matches, picking up two wickets. Since his economy rate was more than 11 runs per over, CSK may let him go.
3. Adam Milne
New Zealand’s fast bowler Adam Milne is an injury-prone player. He was ruled out of IPL 2022 after just one match. Since CSK have got Matheesha Pathirana now, they may look to release Milne from the team.
4. Tushar Deshpande
Tushar Deshpande had a golden chance to prove himself in the absence of Deepak Chahar this season, but he conceded 63 runs in the seven overs he bowled for CSK. He also picked up only one wicket in two matches.
5. Robin Uthappa
Robin Uthappa started the season well and scored two fifties, but he ended with 230 runs from 12 matches. His average was 20.90, and looking at his performances in the last few matches, CSK might think of releasing him ahead of IPL 2023.
