India’s ODI assignment after the 2025 Champions Trophy is the upcoming tour of Australia. There are quite a few changes in the squad announced. Here, we take a look at the list of five players in the ICC 2025 CT Squad but not picked for ODIs against Australia.
There was a lot of talk about whether Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli would remain in the squad. However, both are selected but it is not sure if they would be in the team until the 2027 ODI World Cup.
1) Ravindra Jadeja
It is a big surprise that Jadeja is not in the side, especially with the kind of form that he is in. Axar Patel is there as the spin-bowling all-rounder. It will be interesting to see how he performs.
2) Rishabh Pant is injured and hence, is not selected for ODIs against Australia
Pant is injured and therefore, he is not on the side. Dhruv Jurel has been picked as his replacement ahead of Sanju Samson. KL Rahul will keep the wickets.
3) Mohammed Shami
It could be the end of the road for Shami in India colours. While his absence from T20Is is understandable, not getting a spot in Tests and ODIs means that the selectors aren’t considering him.
4) Hardik Pandya is injured and hence, is not selected for ODIs against Australia
Hardik, like Pant, is not in the squad because of an injury. It is important that he returns to the squad as early as possible, especially with the T20 World Cup next year.
5) Varun Chakravarthy
Varun was brilliant in the Champions Trophy. He could be beneficial against Australia. Yet, more likely because of the combination, Varun is not in the team.
