IPL 2021 is almost upon us, and many players have already joined their respective IPL squads. Because of the COVID-19 situation, all players are required to serve a mandatory 7-day quarantine period before beginning their practice sessions. The players currently playing in the India vs England will be allowed to shift from one bio-bubble to another bio-bubble without quarantine.

While almost all players are available for the IPL this year, unfortunately, a few of them are currently nursing injury issues just a few days before the competition’s first match. In this listicle, we will have a look at those five players who are having injury issues ahead of IPL 2021.

5. Jofra Archer will miss first part of IPL 2021

Rajasthan Royals attained the last position on the IPL 2020 standings in the United Arab Emirates last year. However, the one bright spot for the Royals was the excellent performance of their English player Jofra Archer.

The Barbados-born all-rounder won the Most Valuable Player of the Season award for his brilliance in the IPL. Unfortunately, Archer has an elbow issue at the moment, which is why he is likely to miss the first phase of IPL 2021.

4. Ravindra Jadeja

Ravindra Jadeja suffered an injury when the Indian cricket team traveled to Australia. The all-rounder underwent surgery and is recovering well now. It seems like Jadeja could miss one match of IPL 2021 because he has not joined the Chennai Super Kings camp yet.

Here’s what CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan told to InsideSport about Jadeja’s availability:

“We really don’t know when Jadeja is joining us. He has to get released by the National Cricket Academy (NCA).”

3. Sam Billings

Sam Billings returned to the Delhi Capitals at the IPL Auction 2021. The English wicket-keeper had previously played for the Chennai Super Kings as well.

Billings is currently India, where he is playing an ODI series against the home team. During the first ODI of the series against India, Billings sprained his collarbone joint. However, ECB soon confirmed it was not related to his 2019 injury.

2. Eoin Morgan

Kolkata Knight Riders skipper Eoin Morgan was another English player who picked up an injury during the opening game of the ODI series against India. Morgan also hurt himself while fielding.

During the Indian innings, Morgan split the webbing between his thumb and index finger on the right hand. As a result, he had to take four stitches.

1. Shreyas Iyer may miss entire IPL 2021 season

Another player who got injured during the first India vs England ODI match was the Delhi Capitals captain Shreyas Iyer. The right-handed batsman subluxated his left shoulder during the English innings.

As a result, Iyer is set to miss the first phase of IPL 2021. If the injury is more serious, Iyer might even miss the entire season. The Indian team will need him during the T20 World Cup later this year.
