Mustafizur Rahman has likely played his last match for the Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2024. The left-arm pacer from Bangladesh started his CSK stint with a bang by winning the Player of the Match award against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the season opener.
He even held the Purple Cap at one point in the tournament. However, he has to leave the CSK team now, and there is a possibility that the Chennai-based franchise sign someone as a replacement. Here are five probable options for the same.
1. Josh Hazlewood can be the perfect replacement for Mustafizur Rahman
Josh Hazlewood played a major role in CSK’s IPL 2021 triumph. ICC T20 World Cup is coming up, and Hazlewood would like to have some game time. The best way to do it will be to join an IPL franchise like CSK as a replacement.
2. Tymal Mills can replace Mustafizur Rahman
England pacer Tymal Mills can bowl cutters and slower ones just like Rahman. He could be a like-for-like replacement if CSK are looking for an overseas left-arm pacer.
3. Tim Southee
Tim Southee has played for CSK in the past. He can be the new-ball bowler for the team with Deepak Chahar injured now. It could be a masterstroke to sign Southee now.
4. Wayne Parnell
Just like Tymal Mills, Wayne Parnell is another foreign left-arm pace option available to sign for the CSK team. Parnell can be the new ball bowler and also the death bowler if needed.
5. Akeal Hosein
An underrated choice for this role can be Akeal Hosein. He can bowl left-arm spin in the powerplay and also hit some big shots with the willow if needed. He played a solitary game for SRH last season before being released.
