IPL 2023 is in the history books. Before the season started, a mini auction took place in Kochi, where the 10 franchises made some big signings.
The likes of Sam Curran, Cameron Green and Harry Brook earned some big contracts from the teams. While the IPL teams used a majority of their highest-paid players for the full season, here’s a list of five such players who earned 10 crore or more but played less than 10 matches.
1. Ben Stokes played only 2 matches in IPL 2023
Chennai Super Kings star Ben Stokes earned a massive salary of 16.25 crore in 2023. However, he played only two IPL matches this year, where he scored 15 runs and bowled one over.
2. Wanindu Hasaranga played 8 matches in IPL 2023
RCB all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga earned 10.75 crore as a salary this season. Hasaranga played only eight matches for RCB this season, picking up nine wickets.
3. Lockie Ferguson played only 3 matches
Lockie Ferguson played three matches for the Kolkata Knight Riders. KKR signed him for 10 crore in the trade window, and he returned with one wicket in three games.
4. Liam Livingstone played 9 matches
Liam Livingstone has a contract worth more than 10 crore, but he joined the Punjab Kings late. Livingstone played nine matches for the side, where he did a decent job.
5. Avesh Khan played 9 matches
Lucknow Super Giants splurged 10 crore to sign Avesh Khan last year. While Khan did score the winning run against RCB, he could not do anything noteworthy with the ball. He was dropped after he played nine games.
