Signing Shivam Mavi’s replacement is the next thing that the Lucknow Super Giants need to do in IPL 2024. Mavi received a massive contract worth INR 6.4 crore from the Super Giants at the previous auction. However, he entered IPL 2024 with an injury and failed to recover.
Earlier today, the Lucknow Super Giants dropped a video on social media, where Mavi bid goodbye to the season. While LSG confirmed the fast bowler being ruled out, they did not reveal Shivam Mavi’s replacement. Here’s a look at the five probable options.
1. Varun Aaron can be Shivam Mavi’s replacement
Experienced Indian pacer Varun Aaron was a part of the Gujarat Titans team that won IPL 2022. He is a commentator in IPL 2024 right now, but if needed, LSG can rope him in as a replacement.
2. Siddharth Kaul can be Shivam Mavi’s replacement
Siddharth Kaul was the lead Indian pacer of Sunrisers Hyderabad once upon a time. However, his career has declined in recent years. Perhaps, joining LSG can rejuvenate his career in IPL.
3. Basil Thampi
Basil Thampi won the Emerging Player of the Season award in IPL 2017. The Kerala pacer has excellent pace and can nail yorkers in the death overs. He can be a top performer for LSG if given a chance.
4. Vivrant Sharma
All-rounder Vivrant Sharma scored a fantastic half-century for Sunrisers Hyderabad against Mumbai Indians last year. If Devdutt Padikkal doesn’t perform well, LSG can sign Vivrant as his backup.
5. Manan Vohra
Another uncapped Indian player to feature on the list is Manan Vohra, who has played for LSG in the past. Vohra has enormous IPL experience and can be a decent number three option for LSG if needed.
