For the bubble fatigue that he has accumulated over the past year, Liam Livingstone will not be part of RR for the remaining part of the season. It will be a setback for the franchise, which saw the ruling out of Ben Stokes after their first encounter of the season. Jofra Archer has also been recovering from an injury. Here are five players whom they can sign as Liam Livingstone’s replacement.

1. Alex Hales

Alex Hales has been in fine form in recent years. Courtesy of him not playing international cricket, Hales has been part of quite a few global T20 leagues in recent months. He was exceptional in the Big Bash League and scored a lot of runs. Rajasthan Royals would want to shift Jos Buttler back to the middle-order, and hence, they require an opener. In the current circumstances, Hales seems to be a good fit. He will also not have any international commitments in the next month or so.

2. Devon Conway

With both Ben Stokes and Liam Livingstone not there, RR is light on foreign batting options. Jos Buttler and David Miller are the only choices at the moment. They will also need a player who is in form to have an instant impact. Devon Conway seems to be the right option for this. He has been one of the best T20 batsmen in recent months. This could come of use to the struggling batting unit of RR. Moreover, the Kiwi is versatile and can play in the middle-order as well as an opener. Therefore, he could come in as Liam Livingstone’s replacement.

3. Aaron Finch

RR needs stability and experience in their batting order, at the moment. Although he does not have a great record in IPL, Finch can actually be a good choice for RR. He can slot into the opener’s role and be an anchor for the likes of Sanju Samson and Buttler to fire around him. The Aussie can also come in with some useful captaincy experience, especially considering RR has a youngster at the helm.

4. Rassie van der Dussen

Rajasthan Royals would want to have some in-form players who can replace the outgoing ones. Hence, they could choose Rassie van der Dussen, the South African batsman who has been in good touch in recent months. He also has a good ranking in ICC’s T20 charts. In 20 T20I’s so far, the right-hander has scored 628 runs at an average of 41.9 and strike rate of 138.6. This is a really good stat and RR can try to make use of the player’s form.

5. Wanindu Hasaranga

One of the best performers in the Sri Lankan Premier League, Wanindu Hasaranga continued his good form with a few memorable performances for Sri Lanka as well. Rajasthan has a real problem in their spin-bowling department. Both Shreyas Gopal and Rahul Tewatia are leaking runs often. Hasaranga is a leg-spin bowler and can bat at No.7. He will add depth to both departments of the game. Hence, he can be one of the players whom RR can target as Liam Livingstone’s replacement.
