Winning the Man of the Match award in T20Is is the dream of every cricketer in the world. The T20I format tests the cricketer a lot. The game is all about impact, and yesterday, during the second T20I match between India and Ireland, Rinku Singh won the award for his fantastic performance of 38 runs in 21 balls.
Singh became the 45th Indian player to win a Man of the Match award in T20I cricket history. Interestingly, several popular Indian cricketers have not achieved this feat once despite playing 10 or more games. Here’s a list of five such Indian cricketers.
1. Khaleel Ahmed never won Man of the Match
Left-arm fast bowler Khaleel Ahmed played 14 T20I matches for India from 2018 to 2019. Although he scalped some important wickets, he never got the Player of the Match award.
2. MS Dhoni never won Man of the Match in T20Is
MS Dhoni is the most-capped T20I cricketer to feature on this list. The former Indian captain played 98 matches for the Indian cricket team. However, he never won the Player of the Match.
3. Shivam Dube
All-rounder Shivam Dube is yet to win a Player of the Match award. The big-hitting player has played 15 T20I matches for India, but he is yet to win the award even once.
4. Mohammed Shami
Mohammed Shami has proven himself as a match-winner in T20 cricket. However, the fast bowler has surprisingly failed to win the Player of the Match award in any of the 23 T20Is that he played.
5. Manish Pandey
Middle-order batter Manish Pandey is famously known as the lucky charm of Team India because the Men in Blue built a winning streak whenever he played. However, Pandey has zero Man of the Match awards to show after 39 T20Is.
