Playing an ODI for India is the dream of many individuals. ODI cricket is one of the most-followed formats of the game. In fact, even the most prestigious event of cricket, the World Cup happens in the ODI format as well.
India are two-time winners of the ODI World Cup. Over the years, the Indian side has been quite dominant in this format of the game, winning the Champions Trophy and tri-series as well. However, unlike the greats, the following five popular names just managed to play a solitary ODI match for the nation and then retired.
1. Faiz Fazal played 1 ODI match for India
Left-handed batter Faiz Fazal made his ODI debut in 2016 during the series against Zimbabwe. He scored a half-century on debut, but the southpaw never played for the nation again.
2. Pankaj Singh played 1 ODI match for India
Right-arm pacer Pankaj Singh earned his maiden ODI cap during the Zimbabwe tri-series in 2010. He played for India against Sri Lanka on June 5, 2010 and never got a place in the team again.
3. Naman Ojha
Even wicketkeeper Naman Ojha made his only ODI appearance for the nation in the 2010 Zimbabwe tri-series. The wicketkeeper batter is active in Legends League Cricket these days.
4. Abhijit Kale
Ahmednagar-based right-handed batter and right-arm off-break bowler Abhijit Kale played the only international game of his career in 2003. He turned up for India against Bangladesh in Dhaka and scored 10 runs.
5. Dodda Ganesh
Pace bowler Dodda Ganesh is popular on X for sharing his views on the recent happenings in cricket. The Karnataka pacer played just a single ODI match in his career which was in 1997.
