Mathew Mott has proven to be a bad choice as the ODI coach of the England cricket team. The team has failed miserably under his guidance, suffering defeats against New Zealand, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan and India so far in the 2023 World Cup.

England’s chances of qualifying for the semifinals are almost zero. They might even miss out on a berth in the 2025 Champions Trophy. Quite shockingly, the coach Matthew Mott did not know that the World Cup standings would decide the Champions Trophy qualification. Hence, the ECB should sack him and appoint one of the following five names as the coach.

    1. Ravi Shastri can replace Matthew Mott

Ravi Shastri understands English cricket well. He has a decent experience of working as a coach and instilling a fearless mindset in the squad. England can think of approaching Ravi for the job.

    2. Ashish Nehra can replace Matthew Mott

Ashish Nehra has done a phenomenal job as the coach of the Gujarat Titans team in the IPL. He seems to be a master tactician, who can revive the ODI team of England.

    3. Michael Vaughan

Former England captain Michael Vaughan regularly gives his views on the happenings in English cricket. Perhaps, he can apply for the position and save England’s ODI team.

    4. Eoin Morgan

Former England captain Eoin Morgan led the nation to a historic World Cup win in 2019. The team has not been the same without him. Hiring him as a coach can solve England’s problems.

    5. Misbah-ul-Haq

Former Pakistan skipper Misbah-ul-Haq has a lot of experience of working as a coach. If the England Cricket Board (ECB) wants to think out of the box, they can think of signing Misbah as their new head coach in ODIs.
