Rahul Dravid is the current Head Coach of Team India. Previously, for the India U19 and the India A squads, Rahul was the Head Coach. He had a fine stint with both teams performing well under him. In this article, we take a look at five youngsters coached by Rahul Dravid in the U19 squad who might get a chance in the senior team soon.

Dravid was the Head Coach of the U19 teams that played in the 2016 and the 2018 U19 World Cup. Some of these players have already made their India debut while a few will be doing it in the next few years. Incidentally, a few of these cricketers will make their debut with Rahul as the Head Coach.

    1) Shivam Mavi

Shivam Mavi is one of the youngsters coached by Rahul Dravid in the U19 squad who might get a chance in the senior team soon. Mavi has had injury issues in recent years but he is showing signs of the form that he used to bring out when he was a teenager. For KKR in IPL 2021, Mavi looked to be in good form. With two more teams coming up next season, Mavi can assure himself of a gig of at least ten games. This will give him enough chance to prove himself. If he does better than he did in IPL 2021, an India call-up could be on the way.

    2) Ishan Porel

Ishan Porel is someone Team India could look for in the Test squad. He is part of the India A team that is touring South Africa. With the likes of Ishant Sharma not showing great consistency, Rahul Dravid could be inclined to make a few changes. It is here that the West Bengal pacer could get a chance. Ishan could also get a few games in IPL 2022.

    3) Riyan Parag

Riyan Parag was part of the U19 World Cup squad that won the trophy in 2018. Parag’s form in IPL has been disappointing but otherwise, he has been alright domestically. He is a middle-order batsman who can offer a few overs with the ball. India needs cricketers with such a profile. Parag needs to do well in IPL and he can then surely expect a call from the Indian Team.

    4) Arshdeep Singh

Arshdeep Singh is also on the verge of making his debut for Team India. In IPL 2021, he collected 18 wickets and shone brightly both in the powerplay and at the death. India needs left-arm seamers for across formats and Arshdeep could be one of the first players who could get a chance in this regard. Hence, he could make his debut soon.

    5) Avesh Khan

Avesh Khan is also one of the youngsters coached by Rahul Dravid in the U19 squad who might get a chance in the senior team soon. Avesh was part of the 2016 U19 squad along with the likes of Pant and Ishan Kishan. The Madhya Pradesh speedster was the second-highest wicket-taker at IPL 2021. Many expected him to make his debut against New Zealand but that did not happen. However, next year, Avesh is certain to play for India.
