Playing for India is the ultimate dream of any young cricketer in the country. In the modern era, there are three main formats of international cricket, namely Tests, ODIs and T20Is. The BCCI tries to have all-format cricketers although some boards prefer having specialists for specific formats.
Despite the Indian board’s best attempt to make the players all-format specialists, only a few of them actually excelled in the roles. Here’s a list of the only six cricketers who have managed to play 50 Tests, 50 ODIs and 50 T20Is for the Indian cricket team.
1. KL Rahul is currently playing 50th Test for India
KL Rahul has become the latest entrant on the list. The wicketkeeper batter received his 50th Test cap today on Day 1 of the India vs England Test in Hyderabad. He has already represented the nation in more than 50 ODIs and T20Is.
2. Current India captain Rohit Sharma
Rohit Sharma is the all-format captain of the Men in Blue. He has done an impressive job as captain, and it is not surprising to see him on this elite list.
3. Virat Kohli
Regarded by many as the greatest batter of all time, Virat Kohli is another expected name on this list. Kohli was one of the first players to achieve this feat.
4. MS Dhoni
Former Indian skipper MS Dhoni also features on this list. Despite being a wicketkeeper batter, Dhoni maintained his fitness well and played many matches for the nation.
5. Ravindra Jadeja
It is rare to see an all-rounder have a lengthy career in all three formats. Ravindra Jadeja is one of the rare talents who has played 50 Tests, 50 T20Is and 50 ODIs as an all-rounder in international cricket.
