Competition is cutthroat in India. Hence, it is not a surprise to see players getting just one game to prove themselves. Here, we take a look at the list of five Indians who played just 1 ODI since 2020 and didn’t get another chance.
Now that ODIs are not played enough, giving a long rope is not possible in some cases. Teams will need cricketers with proven mettle, and hence, many do not get sufficient backing.
1) Ravi Bishnoi
Ravi Bishnoi might still get another chance but under Gautam Gambhir, who prefers multi-dimensional cricketers, Ravi back in ODIs is a distant thought. The LSG cricketer must first focus on his T20 comeback.
2) Kuldeep Sen is one of the Indians with a single ODI chance
Kuldeep was rated highly after his debut in the IPL. However, he did not get too many chances later on. If he does well in the IPL again, he still stands a chance in the blue jersey.
3) Rahul Chahar
Rahul Chahar even played in a T20 World Cup for India. However, in between, he also got a chance to play ODIs. That said, Rahul lost his form in T20Is and, therefore, naturally, no chance came through in the 50-over format, as well.
4) K Gowtham is also one of the Indians with a single ODI chance
It was a one-off game for Gowtham and it was not surprising that he did not get another chance. The Karnataka cricketer now does not have an IPL contract.
5) Nitish Rana
Nitish Rana is one player India could have backed. His game suits the ODI format, and adding to this, he has the skills of a decent right-arm off-spinner. India could have used this in the middle overs. That said, he could still earn a comeback if he keeps his form going.
6) Chetan Sakariya
After his blockbuster run in the IPL, Chetan got a chance in both ODIs and T20Is. However, the Saurashtra cricketer never persisted with his form. Injuries also hampered his progress.
