Ranji Trophy 2023 ended on Sunday, with Saurashtra defeating Bengal in the summit clash to become the champions for the second time. Playing under the leadership of Jaydev Unadkat, Saurashtra beat Bengal by nine wickets. In total, 38 teams participated in this year’s Ranji Trophy.
Even today, Ranji Trophy is the number one tournament for Indian players to perform well and earn a call up to the Test squad. There were some top performers from all teams in the tournament, and here’s a list of the six players who could earn a call-up to the Indian Test squad after performing well in Ranji Trophy 2023.
1. Arpit Vasavada won Man of the Series in Ranji Trophy 2023
Saurashtra batter Arpit Vasavada played a key role in his team’s championship win. He was the second highest run-getter in the tournament with 907 runs, including a double ton in the semifinal against Karnataka.
2. Dhruv Shorey performed well in Ranji Trophy 2023
Delhi batter Dhruv Shorey was among the top performers in the tournament. He bagged the fourth position in the final batting charts, having scored 860 runs in seven matches.
3. Sarfaraz Khan
Sarfaraz Khan has been knocking the door of the Indian Test team for a long time. In this year’s Ranji Trophy, he aggregated 556 runs in six innings at an average of 92.67.
4. Harvik Desai
Saurashtra wicket-keeper Harvik Desai smashed three centuries and scored 614 runs in the tournament. Since India are trying new wicket-keepers in Tests, they can give a chance to Desai as well.
5. Shams Mulani
Mumbai all-rounder Shams Mulani has been among the top wicket-takers for Ranji Trophy in the last few seasons. He took 46 wickets in seven matches this season. It will be interesting to see if he gets a call-up.
6. Akash Deep
Bengal fast bowler Akash Deep played a main role in his team’s runner-up finish. He took 41 wickets in 10 matches and impressed the fans.
