The Indian cricket team has played hundreds of matches, but only six players have managed to take three wickets off three consecutive deliveries in those games. Here is the list of six players who have taken a hat-trick against India in international cricket.
1. Stuart Broad – Only bowler to take Test hat-trick against India
England pacer Stuart Broad became the first bowler to take three wickets in three balls against India in Test cricket. His three victims were MS Dhoni, Harbhajan Singh and Praveen Kumar in a Test at Trent Bridge in 2011.
2. Aaqib Javed – 1st bowler to take ODI hat-trick against India
Former Pakistan pacer Aaqib Javed took a hat-trick in an ODI against the Men in Blue at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium back in 1991. He dismissed Ravi Shastri, Mohammad Azharuddin and Sachin Tendulkar LBW.
3. Danny Morrison
Popular commentator Danny Morrison scalped three wickets in three balls versus India. Playing for New Zealand in 1994, he rattled the stumps of Salil Ankola, Kapil Dev and Nayan Mongia.
4. Steve Harmison
Former England fast bowler Steve Harmison bagged three wickets in three balls against India at Trent Bridge in 2004. The three batters to be dismissed were Mohammad Kaif, Lakshmipathy Balaji and Ashish Nehra.
5. Farveez Maharoof
The last player to take an ODI hat-trick against India was former Sri Lankan all-rounder Farveez Maharoof. He took the wickets of Ravindra Jadeja, Praveen Kumar and Zaheer Khan in Dambulla in 2010.
6. Thisara Perera – Only player to take T20I hat-trick against India
Former Sri Lanka captain Thisara Perera became the first player to take three wickets in three balls in a T20I versus India. It was in 2016 when he dismissed Hardik Pandya, Suresh Raina and Yuvraj Singh in Ranchi.
