The much-awaited BBL Draft 2024 happened yesterday in Australia. Eight teams, namely Perth Scorchers, Hobart Hurricanes, Sydney Sixers, Sydney Thunder, Melbourne Stars, Melbourne Renegades, Brisbane Heat and Adelaide Strikers made their picks for the upcoming season.
Many big names had registered themselves for this draft, but only a few slots were available in the BBL squad, which is why a lot of players remained unsold. The following six Pakistan players even confirmed their availability for the full BBL season, but teams showed no interest at all.
1. Former Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed was not picked in BBL 2024 Draft
Sarfaraz Ahmed led Pakistan to the Champions Trophy title in 2017. However, the wicketkeeper batter is no longer a regular member of Pakistan team, which is why the BBL teams did not show any interest in him as well.
2. Pakistan star Naseem Shah was not picked in BBL 2024 Draft
Naseem Shah came into the limelight after his phenomenal performances in T20 World Cup 2022. Although that mega event happened in Australia, the BBL teams did not want Naseem in their team this time.
3. Umar Akmal
Umar Akmal is a veteran of T20 cricket. He has played for so many teams across the globe. However, the BBL teams did not care for his experience at this year’s draft.
4. Khurram Shahzad
Popular in Pakistan for his Dale Steyn-like bowling action, Khurram Shahzad recently bowled a fantastic spell in the Test against Bangladesh. Despite his top performance in Tests, Shahzad went unpicked in the draft.
5. Imam-ul-Haq
Imam-ul-Haq is an ODI specialist. Still, he tried his luck and registered himself for the BBL Draft 2024. As expected, the southpaw went unpicked at the draft.
6. Imad Wasim
Imad Wasim considers himself as one of the best spin-bowling all-rounders in the world. There was no place in any of the eight BBL teams for the Pakistan all-rounder though.
