IPL 2021 season got underway with a match between the Mumbai Indians and the Royal Challengers Bangalore at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. The Royal Challengers Bangalore defeated the Mumbai Indians by two wickets in a close encounter. Next, Rishabh Pant’s Delhi Capitals beat the Chennai Super Kings in Mumbai. There were quite a few new faces in all the squads.

Apart from that, there is a lot of excitement among the fans to see the other four teams out on the field as well in IPL 2021. Speaking of the 2021 edition of the IPL, the cricket universe is looking forward to seeing many things this year. The top six of them have been presented below.

1. Shahrukh Khan’s debut in IPL 2021

Shahrukh Khan has made a name for himself with his excellent batting performances at the domestic level. The finisher has been a star performer for the Tamil Nadu team and now he could make his IPL debut soon.

The Punjab Kings had snapped him up at the IPL Auction 2021 after an intense bidding war with the Royal Challengers Bangalore and the Delhi Capitals. It will be interesting to see how Khan performs for Punjab.

2. Glenn Maxwell in RCB colors

Glenn Maxwell made his official RCB debut against the Mumbai Indians in Chennai. The Aussie all-rounder did really well in international cricket, which is why the expectations are high from him in IPL 2021, and he delivered.

The Royal Challengers Bangalore splurged 14.25 crore to acquire his services at IPL Auction 2021. The fans are looking forward to seeing if Maxwell could realize his full potential and continue the same way at RCB.

3. Rishabh Pant and Sanju Samson’s captaincy in IPL 2021

The third exciting thing about the 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League is the captaincy debut of two wicket-keepers. The Rajasthan Royals had announced Sanju Samson as their new skipper before IPL 2021 began.

On the other side, the Delhi Capitals lost Shreyas Iyer due to a shoulder injury. Hence, they went with Rishabh Pant as the captain. The two new skippers will be keen to replicate the same success as MS Dhoni. Pant made a solid start by defeating Dhoni’s team on debut.

4. Kumar Sangakkara’s impact at Rajasthan Royals

Kumar Sangakkara was the captain of the Punjab Kings, the Deccan Chargers, and the Sunrisers Hyderabad during his active days. Sangakkara never played for the Rajasthan Royals.

However, the Royals have appointed him as their Director of Cricket in IPL 2021. Sangakkara had played an integral role in Sri Lanka’s success, and it will be exciting to see if he could do the same for RR with his guidance.

5. Robin Uthappa and Cheteshwar Pujara in CSK colors

Robin Uthappa and Cheteshwar Pujara have been heroes for the Indian cricket team. Both players have featured in the Indian team’s memorable victories.

Now, these two players are in the CSK squad for IPL 2021 and back under the captaincy of MS Dhoni. The fans will be interested in seeing if they can get back to form and perform well under Dhoni again.

6. Kyle Jamieson’s grand IPL debut

Kyle Jamieson had never played in the IPL before, but the Royal Challengers Bangalore were ready to pay 15 crore for his services in IPL 2021. Jamieson received his maiden IPL cap in Chennai.

The Kiwi all-rounder did well on his debut, picking up one wicket for RCB. However, many great players have crumbled under this pressure. Will Jamieson succeed or crumble under price tag? Only time will tell.
