Tests, ODIs and T20Is are three different formats of cricket. These are the formats in which the international cricket matches and tournaments are played. Each format demands a unique set of skills for success. It is often seen that a player who achieves success in Tests does not always succeed in T20Is. Similarly, a T20I specialist struggles in Tests.
However, there have been a few cricketers who have mastered the art of playing in all three formats of the game. Here’s a list of the seven such bowlers who have taken a five-wicket haul in Tests, ODIs and T20Is.
1. Tim Southee has five-wicket haul in Tests, ODIs and T20Is
Kiwi speedster Tim Southee achieved this rare feat yesterday with a five-wicket haul in the first T20I against UAE. Southee has 15 five-wicket hauls in Tests and three five-wicket hauls in Tests.
2. Lasith Malinga has five-wicket haul in Tests, ODIs and T20Is
Former Sri Lankan captain Lasith Malinga was one of the top wicket-taking bowlers of his era. Malinga bagged three five-wicket hauls in Tests, while there were eight such ODIs where he finished with at least five wickets. In T20Is, he took two five-wicket hauls.
3. Ajantha Mendis took five-wicket haul in Tests, ODIs and T20Is
Another former Sri Lankan player to feature on the list is Ajantha Mendis. The mystery spinner had four five-wicket hauls in Tests, three in ODIs and two in T20Is.
4. Umar Gul
Former Pakistan fast bowler Umar Gul played a big role in his team’s success. Gul bagged four five-wicket hauls in Tests, while in ODIs and T20Is, he took a couple of five-wicket hauls each.
5. Imran Tahir
South African leg-spinner Imran Tahir bagged two five-wicket hauls each in Tests and T20Is. Meanwhile, in the ODI format, the Proteas player has finished with five or more wickets in three games.
6. Rashid Khan
Rashid Khan is the only Afghanistan player to feature on the list. The leg-spinner has recorded four five-wicket hauls each in Tests and ODIs. Meanwhile, in T20Is, he has dismissed five or more batters in two matches.
7. Shakib Al Hasan
Regarded by many as one of the best all-rounders of all time, Shakib Al Hasan has 19 five-wicket hauls in Tests. He has four five-wicket hauls in ODIs and two T20Is with five or more wickets.
