KC Cariappa had grabbed the spotlight with his mystery spin. Kolkata Knight Riders had earlier gambled by investing a lot of amount in Sunil Narine, and it proved to be a game-changing deal for the Knights. However, their next gamble proved to be a total flop as KC Cariappa could not live up the expectations.

Cariappa got a contract of 2.4 Crores INR in 2015 from KKR. Next year, KXIP signed him for just 80 lakhs. He returned to KKR in 2019 before being re-released.

5.Eklavya Dwivedi

The Indian wicket-keepers have always received an enormous amount in IPL auctions. A team must have a wicket-keeper in the playing XI, and if they are reliant on a foreign player, it will harm their team balance because, in the IPL, only four overseas players are allowed in a team.

This reason could have forced Gujarat Lions to give Eklavya Dwivedi a contract of 1 Crore INR in 2016. The wicket-keeper batsman could only score 24 runs in four matches and exited from the tournament.
