The competition to get into Team India is heating up. In the recent Sri Lanka Tour, most of the players, who were in the queue to receive the India cap, made their debut. However, there are a few who are still in the line. In this article, we take a look at the list of seven Indian cricketers who might make their debut in 2022.
As per the recent ICC schedule, almost every year from now on, there will be an ICC trophy up for grabs. Moreover, at least in the Test squad, Team India must also brace for a transition period into a new era. Hence, there could be a few cricketers who could make their debut in 2022.
1) Kartik Tyagi
It is a surprise that Kartik Tyagi did not make it to England, at least as a standby player. Nevertheless, with the kind of potential in him, Tyagi could make his debut next year. In fact, it would not be a shock if he makes his debut in all the formats, considering he has impressed in both IPL and FC games.
2) Arzan Nagwaswalla
Until recently, very few knew about Arzan Nagwaswalla. However, after he made it to the England Touring party as the sole left-arm pace option, a few dug into the past performances of the player. He seems to be brimming with talent, and with India needing a left-arm pacer in the Test squad, Arzan is one of the Indian cricketers who might make their debut in 2022.
3) KS Bharat
KS Bharat has been on the fringes of the Indian Test Team for a long time now. Team India might make the decision of moving past the era of Wriddhiman Saha so that if there is an injury to Rishabh Pant in the future, there will be a young quality reserve option. Hence, KS Bharat could finally make his debut for Team India.
4) Riyan Parag
The 50-over World Cup is scheduled to happen in 2023. India will need to strengthen their lower middle-order for the upcoming event. Although there are already plenty of candidates, Riyan Parag could also get added to this list. Since he is a player who could also offer a few overs of off-spin, his case becomes stronger.
5) Shahrukh Khan
Similar to Riyan Parag, Shahrukh Khan could also break the door of the Indian Team courtesy of his multi-utility capabilities. Moreover, the Tamil Nadu cricketer is a big hitter of the ball, something that could serve the team well in the T20I format.
6) Ravi Bishnoi
Ravi Bishnoi is one of the Indian cricketers who might make their debut in 2022. If Yuzvendra Chahal does not do well at the upcoming World T20, it could be curtains for him in this format, at least for the near future. Hence, Ravi Bishnoi could get a chance. The management could also utilize the opportunity to turn Ravi into a bowling all-rounder considering his decent batting skills.
7) Avesh Khan
If there is one player who is sure to make his debut next year, that’s Avesh Khan. It would not be a surprise if Avesh gets a chance this year itself. Having impressed in IPL and in the Ranji Trophy, Avesh looks to be India’s long-term replacement choice for Ishant Sharma.
