Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) are one of the three teams that have been a part of IPL since 2008 but never won a championship. It is not that the Bangalore-based franchise have played poorly and finished last season every season. In almost every season, RCB have one of the strongest squads.
However, they have never won the trophy despite qualifying for the finals thrice. Some fans think that the Bangalore team has made some errors as far as player retentions are concerned. Here’s a list of seven players Bangalore should have never released.
1. RCB should have never released Quinton de Kock
South Africa star Quinton de Kock is one of the best wicket-keeper batters in T20 cricket right now. However, before IPL 2019, Royal Challengers Bangalore traded him away to Mumbai Indians.
2. Yuzvendra Chahal
Bangalore shocked the fans when they released their highest wicket-taker Chahal ahead of IPL 2022. He joined RR and won the Purple Cap award this season.
3. RCB should have never released Mayank Agarwal
Bangalore backed Mayank Agarwal a lot during his younger days but did not retain him for a longer period. He has become one of the top batters in the league now.
4. KL Rahul
Another Karnataka star who started his career with Bangalore but moved to another team is KL Rahul. Some fans consider him the new Mr. IPL because of his consistency.
5. RCB should not have released Shane Watson
Australian all-rounder Shane Watson played a major role in CSK’s success in 2018 and 2019. Before that, he had played for Bangalore in IPL 2017 and 2016.
6. Bhuvneshwar Kumar
Ace Indian fast bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar was a part of the Bangalore team in 2009 and 2010. He moved to Pune Warriors in 2011 and went on to become one of the best pacers in India.
7. Robin Uthappa
Robin Uthappa played for MI and Bangalore in his career’s first few seasons. He later joined Pune team and KKR. His performance at KKR was top notch as he won the Orange Cap in 2014 and helped the team become champions. Even in 2021, he played some brilliant knocks to help CSK win the title.
