    7 popular players who played for more than 1 defunct IPL team

    IPL is one of the most famous cricket tournaments in the world. The competition started with eight teams, but over the years, there have been changes in the number of teams. Five teams, namely Deccan Chargers, Pune Warriors, Kochi Tuskers Kerala, Rising Pune Supergiant and Gujarat Lions no longer exist in the league.

    Kochi played the least number of seasons (1), while Supergiant and Gujarat played two seasons each. Pune Warriors played from 2011 to 2013, and Deccan Chargers were a part of the league from 2008 to 2012. Only Chargers won the league from the above-mentioned names.

    Interestingly, there were some common players between the five franchises. Here’s a list of seven such players:

    1. Irfan Pathan – Played for Rising Pune Supergiant and Gujarat Lions in IPL

    Irfan Pathan achieved a rare feat of playing for two new teams in two years. He joined Rising Pune Supergiant in their debut season and moved to Gujarat Lions in 2017. He played his last match in the league for the Lions.

    2. James Faulkner – Played for Pune Warriors and Gujarat Lions in IPL

    Another left-arm fast-bowling all-rounder to feature on the list is Australia’s James Faulkner. He played for Pune Warriors in the initial seasons of his career before switching to Rajasthan Royals. He played his last season for Gujarat Lions in 2017.

    3. Ravindra Jadeja – Played for Kochi Tuskers Kerala and Gujarat Lions in IPL

    One of the biggest names in Indian cricket, Ravindra Jadeja, was one of the players in the Kochi Tuskers Kerala team. Jadeja represented his home team Gujarat Lions in 2016 and 2017.

    4. Mitchell Marsh

    Australian all-rounder Mitchell Marsh played for both franchises from Pune. He also had a stint with the Deccan Chargers.

    5. Ishant Sharma

    Ishant Sharma played for the Deccan Chargers and Rising Pune Supergiant. The veteran Indian fast bowler bowled an excellent spell for DC against Kochi Tuskers Kerala.

    6. Dale Steyn

    Former South African fast bowler Dale Steyn was a big match-winner for the Deccan Chargers. He played only one game for Gujarat Lions in his career.

    7. Steve Smith played for both IPL teams from Pune and Kochi Tuskers Kerala

    Former Australian captain Steve Smith played for both franchises from Pune and was also a member of the Kochi Tuskers Kerala team. Smith even captained Pune Warriors and Rising Pune Supergiant.
