Former Indian batter Sunil Gavaskar expressed his disappointment over the fact that there will be no live audience for Kohli’s 100th Test. At the same time, he added that the decision has been taken in greater interest because the BCCI has rightfully prioritized the health and safety of the spectators.

Speaking on Sports Today, Sunil Gavaskar gave his views on BCCI and PCA’s decision and said:

“The 100th Test is very very special. Disappointing that there is going to be no crowd, but I think the decision has been taken in the greater interest. The cases have increased in and around Mohali, where the match is going to be played.”

Gavaskar highlighted how it is important for any performer, including cricketers and actors, to have a live audience. The presence of fans, especially home fans, and their cheering boosts the morale of the players playing in the middle. Virat Kohli has always enjoyed the presence of fans at the stadium, but unfortunately, his landmark Test will happen without any audience.

When will Virat Kohli’s 100th Test match start?

The 3-match T20I series between the Indian cricket team and the Sri Lankan cricket team concluded on Sunday evening, with the home team securing a 3-0 series win. The two nations will now switch formats and battle against each other in a 2-match ICC World Test Championship series.

As mentioned ahead, the first match of this brief series will happen from March 4 to 8. India start as the overwhelming favorites to win the match. It will be interesting to see if Sri Lanka can give the home team a run for their money.
