T20I cricket has quickly become one of the most exciting formats of the sport. This form of the game started to gain popularity in 2007 when the International Cricket Council launched the ICC T20 World Cup. Since then, every nation has taken T20I cricket seriously.
One of the main reasons why T20Is are so exciting is that any team can defeat any opponent in this sport. There are more chances of an upset in T20I matches than in Tests. However, there have been four such occasions in this format’s history, when one batter single-handedly bulldozed the opponent and scored more runs than the entire opposition managed. Here’s a list of four such occasions.
1. Aaron Finch vs. Zimbabwe
Aaron Finch holds the record for the highest individual score by a batter in T20I history. He played a knock of 172 runs against Zimbabwe. In reply, the Zimbabwean team managed to score only 129/9 in their 20 overs.
2. Virat Kohli vs. Afghanistan
In the 2022 Asia Cup Super 4s round, Virat Kohli ended his drought of centuries with a spectacular ton against Afghanistan. He scored 122 runs in that game. Chasing 213 for a win, Afghanistan scored 111/8 in their 20 overs.
3. Rilee Rossouw vs. Bangladesh
In the Super 12 match of T20 World Cup 2022, South Africa’s Rilee Rossouw smashed 109 runs against the Bangladesh cricket team. The Bangladesh team scored only 101 runs and fell eight runs short of what Rossouw scored alone.
4. Glenn Phillips vs. Sri Lanka

Another match from T20 World Cup 2022 to feature on the list is yesterday’s clash between New Zealand and Sri Lanka. Glenn Phillips scored a hundred for the Kiwis and took them to a respectable total. He scored 104, and the entire Sri Lankan team managed 102 runs.
