The ICC World Cup 2023 is just a few months away. After four long years, the world will witness a mega event in the 50-over format. The last world event in the 50-over format happened back in 2019, where England defeated New Zealand to become world champions on home soil.
This year, the ICC World Cup 2023 will take place in India. Home team India will start as the favorites to win. However, one thing that every Indian fan wants to forget is the 2007 World Cup. It was one of the worst outings for the Men in Blue as they managed to win only one match in the group stage and were eliminated early.
Not a single Indian player from that mega event is active right now in the international arena. There are four other players though, who played in the 2007 WC and might be in action at the upcoming mega tournament as well.
1. Tamim Iqbal may play in 2023 World Cup
Tamim Iqbal was the architect of Bangladesh’s upset win against the Indian cricket team at the 2007 World Cup. He announced himself on the grand stage with the match-winning performance against India. Iqbal has become one of the top run-scorers for Bangladesh in international cricket. It will not be a surprise if he opens the batting for the team at the 2023 WC.
2. Shakib Al Hasan may play in 2023 World Cup
Another Bangladeshi cricketer to appear on this list is Shakib Al Hasan. The left-arm spin-bowling all-rounder is among the top cricketers in the world right now.
3. Mushfiqur Rahim
Bangladeshi wicket-keeper batter Mushfiqur Rahim focuses on the longer formats of the game. Rahim played in 2007 WC and might participate in the 2023 edition as well.
4. Sean Williams
Zimbabwe have made a fantastic comeback in world cricket. One of the main reasons behind their success is Sean Williams. If Zimbabwe make it to the 2023 WC, Williams may represent the African nation.
