Pakistani skipper Babar Azam is currently one of the best batters across all three formats. He has performed exceedingly well in the last 2–3 years to establish himself among the best batters in the world. His numbers across formats are unbelievable, and he is breaking records after records.
Babar has taken Pakistan cricket to new heights and has been a pretty decent captain. However, after a few failures in the recently concluded Asia Cup 2023, he has also faced some heat. A number of former cricketers, cricket analysts, and fans have questioned his batting approach and captaincy.
It is not new for a former cricketer to make a bold claim or make a statement that seems pretty difficult to digit. And a recent statement from former Pakistani pacer Mohammad Asif also raised the eyebrows of many fans.
Babar Azam remained at the top of the rankings in the shorter format for quite some time. In ODIs as well, he is the No. 1 ranked batter. But over the years, many have questioned his slow batting approach in the T20Is. Though his consistency in T20Is is pretty impressive, which can’t be overlooked.
Amid Babar’s prime, Asif made a cracking statement and said that he can bowl a maiden over to Babar in T20is anytime. He said, “I can bowl a maiden over to Babar Azam in T20 cricket even today. He cannot hit the ball if you bowl good deliveries to him.”

Notably, Asif was one of the best bowlers of his time and had the ability to swing the ball both ways. Many former batting icons, like AB de Villiers, Hashim Amla, and Kevin Pietersen, have termed him a difficult bowler to face. Though it might remain a mystery whether Asif can bowl a maiden to Babar in T20Is or not. But it has certainly become a matter of discussion among the fans.
