Aaron Finch has been one of the best T20I captains for Australia. Under his tenure, the nation won the T20 World Cup, as well. Here, we take a look at the list of three talented players who surprisingly never captained Australia in T20Is.
However, a few legendary cricketers never got a chance to lead the nation in the T20 format. Considering their experience, they should have been given a chance.
1) Pat Cummins
It is a bit of a shock to note that Pat Cummins has never been the skipper of Australia in T20Is. He has won the ICC events for the other two formats as the skipper. In T20Is, Mitchell Marsh leads the side despite Cummins operating as a player. That said, there is a chance that Cummins leads the side in the future.
2) Glenn Maxwell never captained Australia in T20Is
Maxwell is the highest-capped player for Australia in T20Is, till now. Yet, he has never been the skipper of the side. Now that he is in the final few years of his career, he may never get that chance. Maxi would have been a fine choice as a skipper at his peak. He had the aggressive intent to help Australia win a few tournaments.
3) Mike Hussey
Mike Hussey was a consistent member of the T20 squad when the format itself began. When the likes of Ricky Ponting retired, he would have been a good choice to carry forward the side in the T20 format. However, that did not happen.
