Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra made his predictions for IPL Auction 2022 in a recent video on his YouTube channel. Chopra was a member of the Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals squads during his IPL career. Not many members of the cricket universe would know that Chopra was once teammates with Deepak Chahar in the Rajasthan Royals squad.

It was back in the years 2011 and 2012 when Chahar was a lesser-known uncapped player. The Rajasthan Royals signed him then. However, he did not get a single match. Chahar then moved to the Rising Pune Supergiant. In 2018, the Chennai Super Kings signed him, where he became a superstar.

Currently, Deepak Chahar is one of the best bowling all-rounders in India. Recently, in the ODI series between the Indian cricket team and the South African cricket team, Deepak scored a fantastic fifty. He has done well in the powerplay overs of the match. Thus, Aakash Chopra believes he will be the most expensive Indian bowler.

“I still believe that Deepak Chahar will be the most expensive; it’s just a gut feel. There will be a lot of teams who will put money on him because he is a three-over powerplay bank,” said Chopra.

Aakash Chopra also gave his opinion on Shardul Thakur

Deepak Chahar and Shardul Thakur played a vital role in the Chennai Super Kings’ success during the last four years. They both were members of the Rising Pune Supergiant team in 2017. After that, they reunited with MS Dhoni and Stephen Fleming at CSK. They are now match-winners.

While Chopra feels that Deepak will be the most expensive, he was not 100% confident that even Thakur will be so expensive. However, he pointed out one similar thing between Deepak and Shardul as he added:

There is one thing common between him and Deepak – that both can bat. That is another string to their bow, which is outstanding.”
