However, former South African star AB de Villiers picks a batter who will be scoring tons of runs in the coming tournament. In a video uploaded on his YouTube channel, De Villiers named India’s young opener Shubman Gill to score the most runs in the coming tournament.
De Villiers said, “His technique and style are quite simple and basic, generally what you say about some of the best players in the world.” He stated that Gill plays traditional cricket, does not experience so much, and changes gears when required.
Gill has been in phenomenal form this year. He is the leading scorer in ODIs in 2023 and has already scored five centuries. In India, during the IPL 2023, he was the highest scorer as well. With the form he is in, there will be no doubt if he finishes the World Cup 2023 as the highest run scorer in the end. But the competition is very tough, with some other superstars in line.
