The Eliminator match of the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League is in the history books with the Royal Challengers Bangalore progressing to Qualifier 2 with a win against the Lucknow Super Giants. RCB won the match by 14 runs and ended their Eliminator jinx. Former Royal Challengers Bangalore player AB de Villiers posted a tweet, reacting to the team’s big win.
Speaking about the match between the Lucknow Super Giants and the Royal Challengers Bangalore first, LSG won the toss and opted to field first at Eden Gardens. Mohsin Khan gave a splendid start to the Lucknow-based franchise as he picked up the wicket of Faf du Plessis in the first over itself. However, Rajat Patidar then changed the game with a spectacular century in the first innings.
Patidar aggregated 112 runs and guided the Bangalore-based franchise to a 207-run total. Chasing 208 for a place in the Qualifier 2, Lucknow Super Giants lost Quinton de Kock early, but KL Rahul and Deepak Hooda did an excellent job to stabilize the innings. Both batters added 96 runs for the third wicket before Wanindu Hasaranga cleaned up Hooda.
Marcus Stoinis had a brief partnership with Rahul after that, but once that partnership was broken, the Royal Challengers Bangalore did not allow the Lucknow Super Giants any chance to bounce back in the match.

In IPL 2020 and 2021, the Royal Challengers Bangalore made it to the playoffs with AB de Villiers in the team. However, they lost in the Eliminator match on both occasions.
