An era in Indian cricket came to an end when batting mystero Virat Kohli decided to step down as India’s Test captain in shocking announcement, post the Test series against South Africa.

Kohli will no doubt be known as India’s one of the best captain among the others. The man took the Indian from 7th in the ICC Test Ranking to now at the top of the podium.

Kohli’s sudden announcement has left all in bit of a confusion, as Team India now searches for a new captain, while Kohli looks to bounce back strong.

Virat Kohli has been struggling with his bat for the last 2 years. He has not been the Kohli that everybody knows, and many Kohli is stepping down as India’s captain from format to further focus on his batting.

Shahid Afridi speaks on Virat Kohli quitting India’s Test captaincy

Former Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi is the latest to comment on Virat’s resignation as India’s Test captain.

While talking to Sama TV in Pakistan, Shahid Afridi stated that Virat has played enough cricket to know what’s right for him. Also mentioned that there comes a stage when a captain can’t handle the pressure and it effects the player’s performance.

He continued that Virat has captained India for long time and at great level, but it’s time that he enjoys his his cricket, rounded off Shahid Afridi.

Kohli’s record’s as India’s Test captain stands beside the calibre of player that he is. Virat has lead India in 68 Test matches and has won 40 matches, lost 17 and the remaining matches ended in draw or other results.

The BCCI is on the search for the next captain, and Rohit Sharma is said to be the leader in that race, who also captains India in other formats as well. The captain will be announced before India’s next Test series against Sri Lanka in February.
