Babar Azam is probably the best all-format batter in the last few years who has scored runs consistently across all three formats. With his remarkable consistency, many former cricketers, cricket pundits, and analysts have added him to the unofficial “Fab Four” in the cricket World.

Most recently, the former Indian opener Aakash Chopra said in one of his YouTube videos that with Virat Kohli not being able to score as he used to a few years ago, he is no longer part of the “Fab Four” in test cricket. Apart from the former Indian captain, the other three members of his unofficial “Fab Four” are Australia’s Steven Smith, New Zealand’s Kane Williamson and England’s Joe Root. Apart from Virat, they have done a good job in test cricket.

Aakash also said that Babar Azam has done a tremendous job, but he still hasn’t reached the status to be included on this list. Pakistan is on tour in Sri Lanka for two tests. The first test will begin in Galle on July 16 (Sunday). This will be the first time in almost two months that Pakistan will play an international game.

On the eve of the first test, Babar was asked about Aakash’s comment. The Pakistani captain replied that he is currently focusing on performing well for his team and letting his name establish itself through his performance.

Babar said that everyone has their own opinions and thoughts. He added, “My job is to perform. All the records I have broken thus far were due to my performances. My focus is to keep giving performances, so the name will keep coming everywhere by itself.”

In 2022, Babar won the “Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy” for the ICC Men’s Cricket of the Year. So far, the Pakistani skipper has played 47 tests for his country and scored 3696 runs, including nine centuries and 26 half-centuries.

He is also the only batter to feature in the top three rankings in all three formats. Babar is third in Tests, second in T20Is, and first in ODIs. He will look to perform well in the upcoming series against Sri Lanka to help his team start the next WTC cycle with a win.
