“I wanted to get his autograph” – Brett Lee recalls first meeting with Sachin Tendulkar

Former Australian fast bowler Brett Lee has made a big disclosure related to the great Indian batsman, who also goes by the nickname of the God of Cricket, Sachin Tendulkar.

Brett Lee said that once in 1999 he wanted to take Sachin Tendulkar’s autograph but he did not do so for fear of spoiling his impression. The rivalry of Sachin Tendulkar and Brett Lee has been of the greatest in the game of cricket.

Whenever Brett Lee’s Australia and Sachin Tendulkar’s Team India faced-off, the rivalry between Tendulkar and Brett Lee was a sight to behold. Brett Lee used to try one way or the other to get Tendulkar out, because, one his eyes are set, there is probably no way dismiss Sachin.

When Brett Lee made his Test debut for Australia in the year 1999, Sachin also scored a century in the Sydney Test match. Before the start of this series, Brett Lee got a chance to bowl to Sachin Tendulkar in a three-day warm-up match. It was a fan boy moment for Lee and he wanted to get Tendulkar’s autograph but he didn’t.

Recalling that series on his YouTube channel, Brett Lee said that the first time when he met Sachin Tendulkar in 1999 in Canberra, when Lee was playing for the Prime Minister’s XI against India while Sachin Tendulkar was an integral member of the Indian team. He added that he wanted to get Sachin Tendulkar’s autograph, but decided not to thinking of his self impression.

“I actually wanted to get his autograph, but then realised it wouldn’t look good for my first impression against the great Tendulkar,” said Lee on his YouTube channel.
