Cricket World Cup 2023: ICC announces a record-breaking prize money for winning and other teams

The ODI World Cup 2023 will kick off on October 5 in Ahmedabad, when England will lock horns with New Zealand. This will start the cricket carnival in India, when the top ten teams will compete to become the World Champions.

There are only a couple of weeks left until the start of the tournament, but before that, every team will be playing warmup matches. All ten teams will be playing two warm-up games. The group stage will see every team play one game against the other nine opponents.

Teams that finish in the top four will qualify for the knockout stage. There will be 48 games in total, including the knockout matches. All these games will be played across ten stadiums in India. Mumbai, Kolkata, and Ahmedabad will host the knockout games. There are some highly anticipated games that will take place in the coming tournament.

One of the biggest clashes will be played on October 14 at Narendra Modi Stadium between India and Pakistan. Meanwhile, the International Cricket Council reveals the cash prize for the coming tournament. The announcement was made on Friday, and it saw a huge sum for the winning team.

A total of USD 10,000,000 will be distributed in the tournament. The winning team will receive an amount of USD 4,000,000, and the team that finishes as runners-up will get USD 2,000,000. On the other hand, two teams that lose the semi-finals will receive USD 800,000 each. Four out of ten teams will make it to the knockout stage.

But the ICC has allotted a cash prize of USD 100,000 each for the remaining six participants. However, apart from the team’s cash prize, the team that wins a group match will get USD 40,000 for each win. Notably, there will be a total of 45 group matches, which means 1,8000,000 will be distributed during the group stage.
