Eoin Morgan overtakes most successful T20I captain MS Dhoni Captain T20 World Cup 2021

England cricket team captain Eoin Morgan has now overtaken former Indian cricket team captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni and former Afganistan skipper Asghar Afghan as the most successful captain in T20 International cricket.

Eoin Morgan achieved the feat in the recently concluded match between England and Sri Lanka in the T20 World Cup 2021, where England registered a 26 runs over the Lankan team.

The England captain Eoin Morgan now leads the chart with 43 wins to his name as the captain of the England cricket team, whereas MS Dhoni and Asghar Afghan stands joint 2nd with 42 wins each.

Eoin Morgan has been an instrumental leader for the England cricket team, guiding them to their first Cricket World Cup in 2019 in their home soil and now has reached the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup 2021 as well.

England vs Sri Lanka T20 World Cup 2021

Talking about England vs Sri Lanka match. England registered a 26 runs win over the Lankans. Jos Buttler smashed 101 runs not out with 6 fours and 6 sixes. Eoin Morgan too contributed 40 runs with the bat. Moeen Ali, Adil Rashid and Chris Jordan turned hero with the ball with 2 wickets each.

Sri Lanka cricket team captain had won the toss and got ahead with the ball. England struggled early on losing 3 wickest inside the powerplay. But, from there Jos Buttler and Eoin Morgan took control of the inning and posted 163 runs with the loss of 4 wickets. Sri Lanka’s Wanindu Hasaranga picked up 3 wickets.

Sri Lanka’s batting unit looked weak as they also lost 3 wickets inside the first 6 overs, and was down to 5 wickets even before they scored 80 runs. Then a partnership started to brew up between Dasun Shanaka and Wanindu Hasaranga before the latter was dismissed 17th over for the score of 129.

From there, no one could stand on the pitch for even 2 minutes as Sri Lanka got bundled out for 137 runs in 19 overs and fell short by 26 runs. Jos Buttler was named Man of the Match for his unbeaten 100 runs inning.
