Gautam Gambhir was one of the architects of the teams that won the 2007 and 2011 World Cups. He was the top scorer for the Indian team in both finals and is one of the reasons that India has these two trophies. Gambhir was pretty aggressive on the field and had some fiery moments in his career with opposition players.

And even after his retirement, he still never shies away from sharing his blunt views, which become the talk of the town more often than not. He was always up for a challenge in his playing days and has the same personality even now.

Recently, in a discussion, Gambhir was asked to pick the best ever captain for India in history. To which he unexpectedly picks former Indian leg-spinner Anil Kumble over MS Dhoni, Sourav Ganguly, Kapil Dev, and Virat Kohli. Earlier as well, Gambhir talked about his liking for Kumble.

During a rapid-fire session on Bada Bharat Show on Vivek Bindra’s Youtube channel, Gambhir named Anil Kumble as the greatest Indian captain. Kumble became the captain of the team in 2007 and led the team in 14 test matches. Though the record is not good, he won three, lost five, and ended six in a draw.

Gambhir is currently part of the broadcasting team for the ongoing Asia Cup 2023. Team India has qualified for the Super Four after beating Nepal in the last game. They will now face Pakistan in their opening match of the next round. That game will take place on Sunday (September 10) at R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.
