“GT would still stick to him because he is Hardik Pandya’s favorite”- Aakash Chopra feels captain will not drop Matthew Wade

Former Indian cricket team opener Aakash Chopra has opined that the Gujarat Titans will not drop Matthew Wade from their playing XI despite his average performances in the first two matches of the competition. Wade is one of the best wicket-keepers in the world right now, but he has not impressed much with the willow in two games for GT.

Generally, the IPL teams do not make any changes to their playing XI when they are winning. Only if the conditions are more suited to a specific player, they think about a change or two. Aakash Chopra feels that Matthew Wade will retain his place in the Gujarat Titans playing XI because is a favorite of the captain Hardik Pandya.

Also, Chopra said that the head coach of the team Ashish Nehra does not like to make frequent changes. So he expects Wade to get a game against the Punjab Kings tonight. Speaking on his YouTube channel, Chopra was quoted as saying as follows by Sportskeeda:

“Matthew Wade hasn’t scored runs so far. His day has not yet been made. They would still stick to him because he is the captain’s favorite and this is Ashish Nehra’s team, they don’t make changes frequently.”

Aakash Chopra says Vijay Shankar may play his last innings at number 3 for GT tonight

Chopra made another bold claim and said that if all-rounder Vijay Shankar does not get going tonight against the Punjab Kings team, he may play the last innings at number three for Gujarat Titans in IPL 2022.

“At No.3, if he gets an opportunity, this will be Vijay Shankar’s last innings. The team might not look at him after this,” Chopra added.

It will be interesting to see how Matthew Wade and Vijay Shankar perform in the IPL 2022 match against the Punjab Kings tonight. The match will begin at 7:30 PM IST.
