The 10th match of the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League ended in the favor of the Gujarat Titans. The Ahmedabad-based franchise defeated the Delhi Capitals by 14 runs at the MCA Stadium in Pune. GT are one of the only two franchise to have a 100% winning record in the IPL 2022 season. In the final over of the match, Kuldeep Yadav surprised everyone with a six.
Delhi Capitals won the toss and invited the Gujarat Titans to bat first. A magnificent 84-run knock from Shubman Gill helped the Ahmedabad-based franchise post a 171-run total on the board. Mustafizur Rahman stole the show with a three-wicket haul in his first match for the Delhi Capitals.
Chasing 172, DC lost wickets at regular intervals. The Delhi fans were hopeful of a win until captain Rishabh Pant was in the middle, but soon after the fall of his wicket, DC crumbled and finished with 157/9. Speaking to the host broadcaster after the game, Pant said:
“That total was not so big. We could have batted better. We lost two wickets in the powerplay and then three wickets in the middle overs. We can’t keep losing that many wickets every time. (On choosing to field first) Depending on weather conditions. We are not thinking about that now.”
