Apart from his bowling, Shardul Thakur has also impressed with his crucial knocks in the batting department in Test matches outside India. While the Maharashtra-based player has done well as an all-rounder for the Indian cricket team, he is yet to showcase his big-hitting skills in the Indian Premier League.

In the last four IPL seasons, Thakur played for the Chennai Super Kings, but he did not get regular opportunities to bat because the Chennai-based franchise bat deep and often their innings ends before Thakur gets a chance to bat. In a recent discussion on Star Sports, South African leg-spinner Imran Tahir, who played together with Shardul for CSK, revealed how the all-rounder would lose his cool if he did not get to bat in the practice sessions.

“He takes a lot of pride in his batting. He takes his batting very seriously. I play with him for Chennai and he does a lot of batting practice. On one or two occasions, he got angry when he didn’t get enough batting in the nets.”

It is interesting to note that both Shardul Thakur and Imran Tahir have been released by the Chennai Super Kings ahead of the IPL 2022 Mega Auction. Fans hope that the CSK franchise re-signs them at the mega auction.
