Former Indian cricket team captain Kapil Dev has heaped praise on current Indian cricket team wicket-keeper batter Dinesh Karthik for making a comeback to the national squad at the age of 37. Karthik made his debut for the Indian cricket team back when current skipper Rishabh Pant was seven years old. Now, he is playing under his captaincy.

Many great players have come and gone in the world of international cricket, but Dinesh Karthik is still here. He made his international debut in 2004 even before MS Dhoni played for the Indian cricket team. Karthik has been dropped from the Indian team multiple times but he has never given up and always came back stronger.

This year, he stole the show in IPL 2022 with his magnificent performances for the Royal Challengers Bangalore franchise. Most importantly, he performed well in the finisher’s role, a position where the Indian cricket team needs more players.

Since Karthik scored runs consistently and at a quick rate, the selectors recalled him to the Indian T20I squad for the ongoing five-match T20I series against the South African cricket team. He got to face only two balls in the first T20I, but in the second game, he pulled off a great cameo that helped the Indian cricket team set a 149-run target.

If you talk about consistency, then Dinesh Karthik is ahead of them all.”
