Bangladesh cricket team’s head coach Russell Domingo heaped praise on his team’s experienced wicket-keeper batter Mushfiqur Rahim for his excellent century against the Sri Lankan cricket team in the ongoing ICC World Test Championship series. Rahim came out to bat in a difficult position. The team’s score was 24/5 after 6.5 overs when Rahim joined hands with Litton Das.

The wicket-keeper batters had an excellent partnership of 253 runs for the sixth wicket and remained unbeaten at the end of Day 1. While Rahim is not out on 115 runs off 252 deliveries, Das aggregated 135 runs from 221 balls for his team.

Bangladesh are 277/5 at the end of Day 1 only because of Mushfiqur Rahim and Litton Das. Earlier in the day, Kasun Rajitha and Asitha Fernando wreaked havoc. Rajitha bagged three wickets, while Fernando accounted for two wickets as Sri Lanka reduced Bangladesh to 24/5 by the time the seventh over ended.

Opening batters Mahmudul Hasan Joy and Tamim Iqbal could not open their accounts. Nazmul Hossain Shanto and captain Mominul Haque got off the mark but failed to touch double digits, while Shakib Al Hasan was trapped in front of the stumps on the first ball of his innings by Kasun Rajitha.

He has amazing determination and a desire to do well: Russell Domingo appreciates Mushfiqur Rahim

Coach Russell Domingo labeled the partnership between Mushfiqur and Litton Das as one of the best he has seen as a coach. Here’s what he quoted as saying about Mushfiqur Rahim by Cricbuzz:

“He hits more balls than anybody I have ever seen. He has amazing determination and a desire to do well. I think a lot of the players want a little bit of love and support particularly when things are not going well for you. For sure, he has worked a little bit on his technique.”
