Veteran England fast bowler James Anderson has finally received clarity that his and Stuart Broad’s careers were not over. Anderson and Broad were regular members of the England Test squad not long ago. Since the age is not on their side, the selectors decided to leave them out for the ICC World Test Championship series against the West Indies cricket team.
The team management wanted to give the younger fast bowlers more opportunities, but the England cricket team lost the ICC World Test Championship series against the West Indies cricket team by 0-1. There were many changes in the backroom staff of the England cricket team. Even captain Joe Root stepped down from his position.
All-rounder Ben Stokes has become the new captain of the England Test cricket team. According to reports, Gary Kirsten is likely to be the new Test coach for the England cricket team. Stokes has already hinted that he is looking to have Broad and Anderson back in the squad.
Speaking on BBC, Anderson reacted to the recent developments and said:
“Stuart and I were hoping our careers weren’t over. So it’s nice to hear there’s a chance. It still means we’ve got to put in some performances here with our counties to prove that we’re playing well enough to get in that final 11. So now having that clarity is really nice.”
James Anderson and Stuart Broad are playing county cricket at the moment
Both veteran fast bowlers James Anderson and Stuart Broad are playing in the County Championship at the moment. While Anderson is a part of the Lancashire squad, Broad represents the Worcestershire county. It will be exciting to see how they perform once they return to the England cricket team.
The England cricket team is scheduled to play Test matches against the Indian cricket team and the New Zealand cricket team in the home season.
