Royal Challengers Bangalore all-rounder Shahbaz Ahmed has expressed his desire to play that role for RCB which Ravindra Jadeja does for the Chennai Super Kings and the Indian team. Ahmed, who came into the limelight during the last two seasons while playing for RCB, will be keen to continue his good form in IPL 2022.

The Royal Challengers Bangalore did not retain the spin-bowling all-rounder ahead of the IPL 2022 Auction, but they fought an intense bidding war with the Kolkata Knight Riders and the Sunrisers Hyderabad to sign him back for INR 2.4 crore at the mega auction. Ahmed will don the RCB jersey again in IPL 2022.

In an interview with Sportskeeda ahead of IPL 2022, Shahbaz Ahmed was asked if there was any spinner who he looked up to during his childhood days. Ahmed replied that he did not follow anyone much back then, but now, he wants to become a player like Ravindra Jadeja for the Royal Challengers Bangalore franchise and his state Bengal.

“I didn’t have any role-model while growing up. However, I love the way Ravindra Jadeja has been performing for the Indian team over the past few years. I aspire to be an all-rounder like him for my state and also for my IPL franchise,” replied Ahmed.

Shahbaz Ahmed reveals he has not spoken to Ravindra Jadeja yet

While Shahbaz interacted with MS Dhoni after a match between the Chennai Super Kings and the Royal Challengers Bangalore during the IPL, he is yet to have a chat with Ravindra Jadeja. When asked if he had any interactions with Jadeja, Shahbaz said:

“I’ve not spoken to him, but I ardently follow him [smiles].”

IPL 2022 will start from March 26 onwards. RCB and CSK are in the same group, meaning Ahmed will get a chance to play against Jadeja at least twice during the season.
