Temba Bavuma was caught taking a nap in the recently-concluded 2023 World Cup Captains Meet. However, it looks like the South African captain was not asleep after all. In a tweet posted by the South African skipper himself, Bavuma explained that he was not sleeping, but the camera angle showed his face in such a way that everyone thought he was asleep.

The 2023 World Cup Captains Meet happened in Ahmedabad earlier today. Rohit Sharma (India), Babar Azam (Pakistan), Pat Cummins (Australia), Dasun Shanaka (Sri Lanka), Hashmatullah Shahidi (Afghanistan), Scott Edwards (Netherlands), Temba Bavuma (South Africa), Jos Buttler (England), Kane Williamson (New Zealand) and Shakib Al Hasan (Bangladesh) were the 10 captains present at the event, where they interacted with the reporters and the broadcasters.

In a snap that went viral from the press conference, South African captain Temba Bavuma was caught taking a nap. New Zealand captain Kane Williamson noticed him as well and tried to control his laughter. The photo went viral in no time. Even Bavuma noticed the photo on The Barmy Army’s page. Temba Bavuma set to lead South Africa for the 1st time in an ICC ODI World Cup match

Bavuma will make his ODI World Cup captaincy debut at the upcoming mega event. The first match of the South African cricket team is against the Sri Lankan cricket team at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Saturday. It will be exciting to see how the Proteas perform under the captaincy of Bavuma.

The South African cricket team failed to qualify for the semifinals of the World Cup, which happened in the year 2019. They will be keen to improve that record.
