Former Indian cricket team captain Sachin Tendulkar has revealed the reason why he does not watch the matches of his son Arjun Tendulkar live. Sachin, who is regarded by many as the God of Cricket, has retired from all formats of the game. He still plays in exhibition tournaments, but he does not play international cricket or IPL.

His son Arjun Tendulkar has earned his second IPL contract this year. Last year, the Mumbai Indians team signed him at his base price of INR 20 lakh. This year, even the Gujarat Titans showed interest in Arjun as the Mumbai Indians eventually signed him for INR 30 lakh.

Arjun is a left-arm pace-bowling all-rounder. Not many Indian players can say that they can bowl left-arm pace and also whack maximums with the willow. Arjun belongs to that rare category, but he is yet to showcase his skills in the IPL because the Mumbai Indians benched him for quite a few matches before he was ruled of the competition with an injury.

I want him to have that freedom to fall in love with cricket: Sachin Tendulkar wants his son to stay stress-free while playing

Parents often give their children some freedom to fall in love with their profession. If they keep a watch on them, sometimes they come under pressure, which results in below-par performance. Sachin knows it very well, and here’s what he said in an interview with Graham Bensinger recently:

“Fathers and mothers, when they watch their children play, they get stressed and that’s why I don’t go and watch Arjun, because I want him to have that freedom to fall in love with cricket – to stay focused on what he wants to do, I don’t go and watch him play,” said Sachin.

It will be exciting to see if Arjun makes his IPL debut in the 2022 season.
