Sunrisers Hyderabad’s fast bowler Umran Malik has grabbed everyone’s attention with his quick bowling in IPL 2022. The Orange Army raised many eyebrows when they announced Umran as one of their retentions ahead of the IPL 2022 Mega Auction. But the bold decision has paid rich dividends as Umran is one of the leading wicket-takers for the Sunrisers Hyderabad this season so far.

The fans who watched Umran’s spell against the Gujarat Titans will never forget him because he made a massive impact with a five-wicket haul. On a night where almost every Sunrisers Hyderabad bowler failed to keep a check on the run-flow, Umran dismissed five Gujarat batters and conceded runs at a decent economy rate.

The prize money for IPL 2022 Purple Cap winner is INR 10 lakh. Interestingly though, Umran has received INR 11 lakh prize money already from 11 matches, having earned INR 1 lakh each for the fastest ball bowled in each match. He has even clocked 157 kmph once this season.

“I don’t look at the speedometer, I just try to bowl in the right areas. I am working on yorkers, slower balls, just bowling in the right areas. This is my first full season in the IPL. Last year, I got to play just three matches. I am getting a lot of experience from Dale Steyn, Tom Moody, Muralitharan and Lara.”

Umran Malik is in action tonight

Kolkata Knight Riders are up against Sunrisers Hyderabad in a do-or-die match at the MCA Stadium in Pune. KKR won the toss and opted to bat first.

It will be interesting to see how Umran performs tonight. The last time he played against KKR, he picked up the big wicket of captain Shreyas Iyer.
