Former Indian Test cricket team vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane hit back at his critics in a recent interview. He said that the people who understand the sport completely will never comment the things that have been spoken about Rahane after the dip in his form.

Last year, Ajinkya Rahane became the second captain to win a Test series for India on Australian soil. He led the team in Virat Kohli’s absence when the Australian team had a 1-0 lead in the 4-match series. It was important for India to win to keep their hopes alive of qualifying for the ICC World Test Championship Final.

However, not many fans gave them a chance because there were injuries in the camp and the team was all out for 36 runs in the second innings of the first Test. During his appearance on Backstage With Boria, Ajinkya recalled the Australian tour and explained how ‘someone else’ took the credit for the decisions that he made on the field as captain.

“I took the decisions on the field or in the dressing room but someone else took the credit for it. [What was] important for me was that we won the series,” said Rahane.

People who generally know the sport will not talk like that: Ajinkya Rahane responds to trolls

Rahane has not played a big knock for the Indian cricket team in the last few months. He has lost his vice-captaincy to Rohit Sharma in the longest format of the game. Many people troll him on social media when he fails to perform well. When asked about how he deals with the criticism, Rahane replied:

“I just smile at it. People who generally know the sport will not talk like that. I don’t want to get too deep into that. Everyone knows it, you know it, what happened in Australia.
