Pakistan cricket team captain Babar Azam became the first player from his country to lead the Men in Green to a victory over arch-rivals India in the ICC T20 World Cup history. Playing under the captaincy of Azam, Pakistan defeated India by 10 wickets at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on October 24, 2021.

That defeat hurt the Indian fans a lot. The loss reduced India’s chances of qualifying for the T20 World Cup 2021. Eventually, India failed to finish in the Top 2 of their Super 12 group despite having the strongest squad in the competition. Virat Kohli and Babar Azam had a chat during the India vs. Pakistan match.

In a recent interview, Babar was asked to share the details of the chat he had with the former Indian T20I skipper that day at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Babar declined the request as he was quoted as saying by Samaa TV:

Babar Azam was the highest run-scorer among all players in ICC T20 World Cup 2021

Pakistan got off to a fantastic start in the ICC T20 World Cup 2021. They beat India by 10 wickets. In the next four matches, they defeated New Zealand, Afghanistan, Namibia and Scotland. However, the Men in Green lost their semifinal battle against Australia and crashed out of the tournament before the summit clash.

Pakistan skipper Babar Azam was very impressive in the tournament as he scored the most runs in the competition. He aggregated 303 runs in six innings. The right-handed batter recorded four half-centuries. According to some cricket experts, Babar should have won the Man of the Tournament award instead of David Warner. Babar is all set to be in action leading Pakistan in their home series against the West Indies team.
